1. What are you looking forward to the most in your new role as head bartender?

Can Your Saltshaker Do This?

SMALT claims to be the world’s first interactive centerpiece and saltshaker. It probably is. Add in that SMALT also has built-in mood lighting and a Bluetooth speaker and there’s no doubt this is a unique product. As a centerpiece it doesn’t approach the beauty of a flower arrangement or a potted succulent. But it certainly is a conversation starter. As a “smart” dispenser, it pours out measured amounts of salt either manually or via “shake,” “pinch” or “pour” gestures using an app for IOS or Android.

AC Hotel San Francisco Announces Open Date

AC Hotel San Francisco Airport/Oyster Point Waterfront will open in September 2017. The location is the newest property in Marriott's AC Hotel collection and is located 10 minutes from San Francisco International Airport.

A Spirited BoardRoom in DTLA

The newly opened BoardRoom is a speakeasy-type lounge tucked inside Kendall’s Brasserie at The Music Center in downtown LA. The latest addition to the Patina Restaurant Group, it’s a great pre- or post-theater spot for playfully indulgent bites like escargot shooters, oxtail poutine, deviled eggs stuffed with Santa Barbara sea urchin and duck fat garlic fries.

Charlie Palmer Group Announces New Leadership

Charlie Palmer Group’s Northern California properties, Mystic Hotel by Charlie Palmer and Harvest Inn by Charlie Palmer, has hired a new leadership team.

The team includes James DeLuca, general manager at Harvest Inn; Tamara De Mars, director of sales and marketing; and Parul Suri, director of revenue management and distribution. Alongside Chef Palmer, the team will work to elevate the guest experience and increase business sales at the two hotels.

San Francisco Marriott Marquis and San Jose Marriott Introduce Healthy Meetings

San Francisco Marriott Marquis and San Jose Marriott have introduced “Meet Well,” a new team-building initiative that gives groups a healthier option. The initiative will include healthy banquet and coffee break menus, active meeting options, wellness topics and speakers, body-friendly seat spacing, meeting planning perks and volunteer options.

Hilton Announced Newest Initiative at IMEX

IMEX America, an expo for the travel, meetings and events industry, took place in Las Vegas on Oct. 10–12. There, Hilton announced and launched their new initiative, WowMakers, which will help recognize the hardworking professionals in the hospitality industry.

The program is intended to celebrate the 100,000-plus professionals in the industry by sharing their stories and helping them connect with others in the business—giving them the recognition they deserve.
