Homelessness has been an increasing epidemic throughout Orange County and in Los Angeles. There have been efforts made to help alleviate the mass of abandoned veterans, with attempts to take them off the streets and provide food, water and safety. American Family Housing, a nonprofit organization dedicated to permanently ending the cycle of homelessness, has made great strides to do just that.
On Oct. 25, the Boutique & Lifestyle Lodging Association revealed the BLLA awards at the Gala & Awards Dinner Celebration at The Beverly Hills Hotel. Casa Madrona Hotel & Spa was named the runner-up for Boutique Hotel of the Year.
Rachel Strong, a member of Hard Rock Hotel San Diego’s group sales team, was named Hotel Site Experience Sales Person of the Year by the San Diego Tourism Authority. SDTA is a non-profit organization with the goal of presenting San Diego as a prime location for meetings and vacations. Strong received the honor at SDTA’s 2016 Sales and Marketing Workshop on Sept. 28 at the Sheraton Hotel and Marina.

The magazine looked at areas with a population of at least 1,000 to come up with their top 10 list.
On Thursday, June 25, James Howard performed his routine morning cleaning duties on the Atlantic City Boardwalk, when he witnessed a purse snatching.
In that moment, Howard, a General Maintenance employee, shouted at the suspect and then went to help the woman. At that time, he also radioed his crew and supervisor. With his help, two members of the crew—Eddie Cruz and Javier Figueroa—and Wilfredo Cintron, supervisor, helped in the search and arrest of the suspect, as well as recovery of the victim’s purse.
