Meeting Munchies: A Croissant and Churro Walk Into a Patisserie

To the annals of great bakery hybrids like the cronut, duffin and cretzel, add the churro croissant from Los Angeles bakery Pitchoun! A flaky pastry dusted with cinnamon sugar and filled with vanilla custard cream it combines French sophistication with the childlike joys of theme park eats. Originally put on the menu for the month of November, the churro croissant has been extended through January and, perhaps, beyond.

PartyWith is a new kind of group experience that’s described as a “walkable photo shoot” and “Instagram feed IRL.” Visitors to the pop-up at the Westfield Santa Anita Mall in Arcadia can interact with 15 different installations or “dream spaces” featuring illuminated disco balls, an infinity rainbow, giant peaches and eggplants, neon, chrome and more.

When the culinary team at the InterContinental Los Angeles Century City learned that LeBron James was a fan of Fruity Pebbles cereal, they knew they had the ingredients for a unique way to welcome the basketball great to Los Angeles and the LA Lakers. Bar Manager Scott Allen created a Fruity Pebble Martini, available at Copper Lounge, while pastry chef Gail Romulo whipped up Fruity Pebbles Layer Cake (available with 48-hour notice at the signature restaurant Mari).
