• California’s Hyatt House Irvine/John Wayne Airport bought by McWHINNEY

Colorado-based McWHINNEY recently purchased the Hyatt House Irvine/John Wayne Airport in Irvine, California. The hospitality-focused real estate developer and investor also owns The Maven Hotel at Dairy Block in downtown Denver, The Elizabeth Hotel in Fort Collins, AC Hotel Portland in Oregon and the Hyatt House Denver Airport Hotel.

The 149-room Hyatt House Irvine/John Wayne Airport opened in December 2017 and features 1,160 square feet of meeting space. The hotel’s amenities include free, property-wide Wi-Fi, a 24-hour market, a fitness center, complimentary breakfast, an outdoor pool and access to grills and fire pits. Hyatt Hotels will continue to manage the property post-purchase.

“McWHINNEY is excited to be adding another Southern California hotel to our hospitality portfolio,” says Chief Investment Officer of Hospitality Dave Johnstone. “This new property offers an extensive list of amenities, including a great central location and free airport shuttle service.”

Hyatt House Irvine/John Wayne’s Central Business District location allows for quick access to Disneyland, Knott’s Berry Farm, Laguna and Newport Beaches and John Wayne Airport.

McWHINNEY was founded in 1991 and has since developed more than 6,000 acres of communities and over 6.5 million square feet of vertical commercial and mixed-use properties in the western United States. The company has offices in Loveland and Denver.

After two-years of refurbishing, General Mendoza, general manager of Sheraton Pasadena, revealed the completion of the hotel’s multimillion-dollar renovation. The property is excited to offer its reimagined accommodations, meeting space and public areas including its Restaurant Soleil.

 

The new concept restaurant designed by Howe & Brown Hospitality has maritime inspired food and craft cocktails that will prove to be a delight for travelers and locals. Using locally-sourced ingredients, the cuisine emphasizes technique and texture to highlight the exuberance of in-season seafood. 

 

Despite being open for only 15 months, Somni is awarded two Michelin stars. Led by Chef Aitor Zabala with Chef José Andrés, the SLS Beverly Hills restaurant celebrates the honor as well as the Michelin Guide’s return to Los Angeles after a decade.
