• Goldmoor Inn Appoints New Director of Events

The Goldmoor Inn has announced Glenn Griffith as its new director of events. Griffith will all event planning at the 21-acre property based in Galena, Ill.

He brings more thanr 25 years of experience to his new role, previously serving as director of catering in hotels such as The New York Palace Hotel, The Charles Hotel at Harvard Square and Four Seasons Hotel Chicago. He also has owned his own social and corporate event planning company, Glenn Griffith Inc.

“We are thrilled to welcome Glenn’s level of expertise and eye for detail to Goldmoor Inn,” says Slobo Radin, co-owner, The Goldmoor Inn. “His experience and passion for creating memorable events with panache is unmatched.”

His experience is extensive. Griffith has planned events for President Ronald Reagan, President Gerald Ford, Vice President Nelson Rockefeller, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, Julia Child, Martha Stewart and John Lennon. He earned his bachelor’s degree in hotel administration from the University of Wisconsin-Stout. He has managed events for the Essex House New York, Harvard Club of New York City, Union League Club of Chicago, Westin River North Chicago and The Garland.

But Benny Boy Brewing  appears to have pulled that off with its claim to be the city’s first combined brewery and cidery. Located in the Lincoln Heights neighborhood, just minutes from downtown, Benny Boy is anchored by a spacious outdoor beer and cider garden. Groups are welcome. The 1,200-square-foot cider house is available for private events of up to 51 guests while a full venue buyout accommodates 300.

Palihouse Santa Barbara, a 24-room boutique hotel in the historic Presidio neighborhood has opened. Offering a “vintage preppy meets American Riviera vibe,” total group buyouts are available, as well as outdoor entertaining space for intimate events.

 

By a number of measures, hotels are doing well in San Francisco.  For starters, occupancy rates, according to preliminary data, were 67.2% for the month of April, with average daily room rates just above $225. As the San Francisco Travel Association notes, those numbers point to the best-performing month for San Francisco hotels since pandemic restrictions were put in place in March 2020.
