• Jerry Bindel Named General Manager of Forest Suites Resort at Heavenly Village

Jerry Bindel has been named general manager for Forest Suites Resort at Heavenly Village, in South Lake Tahoe, California.

Benchmark COO and President Greg Champion made the announcement. “It is with great pleasure that I welcome Jerry to Benchmark and to our resort,” said Champion. “He brings important local and regional market awareness and business connections to his new role, and a strong background of success in leading hotels and resorts.”

Previously, Bindel was the general manager of Aston Lakeland Village Resort of South Lake Tahoe. Additionally, he has held general manager positions for the Doubletree Naniloa Hotel in Hilo, Hawaii; the Hilton Garden Inn of Kapaa, Kauai; and the Aston Montelago Village Resort, located in Lake Las Vegas, Nevada.

“I began working as a restaurant busser and front desk agent in high school, at our local Hilton outside NYC where I grew up, and became active in the Future Business Leaders of America. This led to my college years in the hospitality program at Cornell, and I never looked back,” Bindel says. Bindel has been in South Lake Tahoe since 1999 and is involved in the community as the chair of the local Tourism Improvement District and on the board of the Visitors Authority.

Forest Suites’ location in the heart of downtown South Lake Tahoe provides guests with plenty of outdoor opportunities, including hiking trails and state parks adjacent to the property. Additionally, guests have access to the top of Heavenly Mountain with the Heavenly Gondola next door. “We are an integral part of our community,” says Bindel. “We are an active part of our tourism outreach and cooperative programs, and assist our community in any way possible with donations and volunteerism.”  

Bindel is excited to work with Forest Suites’ team, promoting the location as well as the property’s amenities. “I’m most looking forward to working on enhancing the guest experience at Forest Suites Resort, and of course creating greater value for our owners as well,” he commented.

Bindel is a graduate of Cornell University School of Hotel Administration where he majored in resort and condominium management. He is chairman of the South Lake Tahoe Tourism Improvement District and serves as co-chair of the board for the Lake Tahoe Visitors Authority. He resides in South Lake Tahoe with his family.

Kimpton Solamar Hotel has promoted Sarah Becker to associate director of sales. Becker was the group sales manager of Kimpton Solamar since 2016 and worked to secure new group and corporate business, maintain client relationships and increase customer appreciation. In her new position, Becker will be responsible for business development, training and mentoring the sales team, creating and implementing new revenue plans, leading and executing sales strategies and bringing in new business. 

 

Hilton Santa Barbara Beachfront Resort has named Lani Baird the director of sales and marketing. In this new role, Baird’s responsibilities will include developing and implementing sales and marketing strategies while supervising the sales and marketing team for the 360-room property’s 40,000+ square feet of meeting and event space.

 

The Goodland, a Kimpton Hotel recently announced the appointment of Danielle Santilli as associate director of sales. In her new role, Santilli will be responsible for planning and implementing sales, marketing and business development strategies for the 158-room Santa Barbara hotel.
