PCMA will be offering networking opportunities and education sessions for professionals at the 2019 EduCon on June 25-28 in Los Angeles. EduCon provides a more focused and practical approach to learning in smaller-scale, collaborative education sessions, allowing more than 800 business events professionals to network and learn more about the industry.

"PCMA is celebrated for programs that are cutting-edge and provocative, delivering what business events strategists need to be successful," says Tonya Almond, PCMA vice president of knowledge and experience design. "At EduCon, each person will be able to tailor programs specifically for their own needs, in the format that best suits their learning style."

EduCon 2019 will be hosting several high-profile business events professionals from association, corporate and health care sectors, including Walmart Inc., National Association of Corporate Directors, and Abbott and Tableau Software Inc.

"EduCon provides focused sessions that help me with my relationships with colleagues, clients and suppliers," says Annette Suriani, CMP, chief marketing strategist for AMS Meetings Solutions. "It offers me the opportunity to engage more actively in the sessions I attend."

Aventri, a leader in events management software (EMS), recently released ‘The Top 100 Meeting and Event Venues in the United States’ for 2019. The company took the ten top-rated meeting and event cities in the United States and picked the top ten venues in each area, compiling a list of 100 highly-regarded spaces.

The guide identifies the two most valuable factors in attendee satisfaction as venue location and activities in the host city, followed by capacity, uniqueness and proximity to local attractions.

Los Angeles had a record-breaking year for visitor spending and economic impact in 2018. With visitor spending up $1.2 billion since 2017 (5 percent increase) and economic impact up $1.7 billion (4.9 percent increase), this year was the eighth consecutive year of growth in visitation, spending and impact.

The Los Angeles Convention Center (LACC) has partnered with Portraits of Hope (POH) to create a mural designed by local youth POH participants. POH is a nonprofit founded with the purpose of providing creative therapy for hospitalized children. With geometric shapes as the core design element of the project, the mural, "Shaping LA" is representative of the future of the city as told by the work of tomorrow's leaders.
