Robert Gregson was recently appointed general manager of L'Auberge Del Mar.

1. What are you looking forward to the most in your new role? 

This hotel holds a special place in the heart of such a great community. I am looking forward to continuing on with the amazing legacy of L’Auberge Del Mar and becoming part of this tight knit community that supports it so graciously.

2. How do you think past experiences have prepared you for this role?

I have been fortunate enough to work for some talented people and companies that have raised the bar in our industry. I’d like to think I have taken pieces of those experiences with me along my journey. When I have decisions to make, I often think back to the visionary genius of Ian Schrager and Andrew Zobler to help my own decision-making process.

3. How did you get into the industry? 

In my first job out of school, I was exhibiting at a trade show, and the booth next to me was representing a hotel manned by members of its sales team. The hotel became a client of mine, and the director of sales was so impressed with the way I handled the account, she offered me a job to join her team.

4. What are you hoping to achieve in your new role? 

With the support of new ownership and management, I am looking forward to truly cementing L’Auberge Del Mar as a world-class resort.

5. What do you enjoy most about the industry? 

With 27 years in the business, the relationships I have built along the way are the best part of this industry.
