Persimmons are one of the stars of farmers markets in Southern California this time of year. So it’s fitting that Santa Monica, which has four celebrated weekly farmers markets, is commemorating the fruit during its annual Restaurant Week, which takes place January 7-13.

Chefs at the nearly three-dozen participating restaurants will be crafting special dishes built around the persimmon, from appetizers to main courses to desserts.

You’ll be able to enjoy chipotle glazed carnitas tacos with persimmon salsa at El Cholo; arugula salad with persimmons at Esters Wine Shop & Bar; a crunchy kale and persimmon salad at Massilia; salmon crudo with persimmon confit at the Water Grill; chestnut ice cream with brandy-spiked persimmon at Obicà, persimmon funnel cake at Funnel Cakes on the Pier, and more.

All while enjoying Santa Monica’s sunshine, sea salt breezes, and ocean views. Why not make a day of it with a progressive persimmon dining experience at three or four spots? You might just run into some us of from California Meetings + Events along the way.
