One of the most anticipated hotel openings in Los Angeles is Dream Hollywood. The 179-room property, which will occupy nearly half a city block on the corner of Selma Avenue and Cahuenga Boulevard, will begin welcoming guests in January 2017. The 10-story property is designed to be a social hub for both hotel guests and locals with a pedestrian alleyway that will feature retail shops, restaurants and public art, and an expansive rooftop space with a pool and lounge that is set to be a major nightlife venue.

Casa Madrona Hotel & Spa Finalist of BLLA Awards

On Oct. 25, the Boutique & Lifestyle Lodging Association revealed the BLLA awards at the Gala & Awards Dinner Celebration at The Beverly Hills Hotel. Casa Madrona Hotel & Spa was named the runner-up for Boutique Hotel of the Year.

Hilton Announced Newest Initiative at IMEX

IMEX America, an expo for the travel, meetings and events industry, took place in Las Vegas on Oct. 10–12. There, Hilton announced and launched their new initiative, WowMakers, which will help recognize the hardworking professionals in the hospitality industry.

The program is intended to celebrate the 100,000-plus professionals in the industry by sharing their stories and helping them connect with others in the business—giving them the recognition they deserve.

Orange County Targets San Francisco in Marketing Campaign

OMGOC, a marketing campaign launched by Orange County, California Destination Marketing Organizations, is targeting San Francisco’s market to bring more tourism to Orange County.

This is their first campaign and it uses several digital ad banners and videos to showcase all the region has to offer. It also challenges Northern Californians about what they really know about Orange County.

The goal is to show that there is more to Orange County than meets the eye. The campaign was created by marketing agency, Greehaus, and will run through Dec. 10.

Lonely Planet Named Los Angeles Best In Travel

Lonely Planet’s Best In Travel 2017 is a prestigious list of some of the world’s greatest travel destinations. This year, Los Angeles was named a top US city travel destination, and overall ranked third in the world.

Hard Rock Hotel San Diego’s Rachel Strong Receives Award

Rachel Strong, a member of Hard Rock Hotel San Diego’s group sales team, was named Hotel Site Experience Sales Person of the Year by the San Diego Tourism Authority. SDTA is a non-profit organization with the goal of presenting San Diego as a prime location for meetings and vacations. Strong received the honor at SDTA’s 2016 Sales and Marketing Workshop on Sept. 28 at the Sheraton Hotel and Marina.

Westin Galleria Dallas Completes Multimillion-Dollar Renovation

The Westin Galleria Dallas has completed a multimillion-dollar renovation to the property. Every inch of the hotel has been updated, including the 448 guest rooms and 10 suites, the lobby, the 54,000-square-feet of meeting space and the hotel’s restaurant.
